Have you ever heard of Angel Food Ministries? It's a great program to help cut down on your grocery costs. Go here to find your closest local host site. You place your order by a certain date and your food will come in about a week or two later.
For the low price of $30.00 this is what will be in the Angel Food box in my area for October. (We get to pick it up on Saturday)

4.5 lb. (Avg) Split Chicken Breast Family Tray Pack
26 oz. Heat and Serve Meatloaf and Brown Gravy
1 lb. Chicken Breast Fajita Strips
1 lb. Boneless Center-Cut Pork Chops (4 x 4 oz.)
1 lb. Fully Cooked Meatballs
1 lb. All Meat Hot Dogs
1 lb. Frozen Sliced Carrots
1 lb. California Blend Vegetables
1 lb. Pasta
28 oz. Marinara Sauce
48 oz. Hawaiian Punch
32 oz. Borden 2% Reduced Fat Shelf Stable Milk
12 ct. Corn Tortillas
One Dozen Eggs
One Dessert Item
There are additional special boxes you can add to the regular box but I am not going to list those here - you can see them on the website. They average around $18.00 - $21.00 for something like 10 lbs of chicken or 6.5 lbs of steaks. Sometimes they offer a fruit box or dessert box. It always varies but the price is terrific!
For October we are trying this program to see if we like it. I ordered one box. We typically do most of our grocery shopping at SaveALot, so I am not too concerned about the food brands. I really hope we like the food, because this will save us so much on groceries. And, if you plan your meals around what is in the box for that month - you don't even have to think about it, they have done it for you.
They also offer a Senior Box - My grandma ordered this to try it. It looks really great on the menu. She will receive 10 (heat & serve) meals for $28. Each meal has meat/protein, veggies, fruit, etc. so she gets a balanced meal. The host we are purchasing from also suggested these meals for singles.
I will post back once we have our food and have gotten to try it. In the mean time, check out the November menu and see if there is a host site in your area.
